Common questions

How do I share my list with someone?

Lists belong to a household. In Settings, tap Share Invitation and send the link or 10-character fallback code. The link opens Stocked when it is installed. If it is not installed, follow the installation instructions on the invitation page, return to that page, and tap Open Stocked. Everyone in the household sees shared lists and changes sync across devices.

The invite code isn’t working.

Check the current code in Settings on a phone that’s already in the household, and make sure you’re online. Codes are ten letters and numbers, and never use O, 0, I or 1. They expire after seven days and stop working when someone leaves. Tap Create and share invite when the code has expired.

Can I be in more than one household?

Not at the same time. To switch, go to Settings → Leave Household, then join or create another one. If you are the last member, leaving permanently deletes that household after confirmation.

Does it work without internet?

Yes. You can view and change your lists offline, and your changes sync when you’re back online. Receipt scanning and saving a receipt to your household need a connection. An edited receipt review can be saved on this phone for later. If a receipt is waiting to save, open Inventory → Receipt waiting to save · Review and retry when connected. Meal ideas, recipe links, joining a household and deleting your account need a connection.

How do shopping and Inventory work?

Items you need are on the Grocery List. Check them off as you shop and they move to In Cart. Tap Finish shopping and they move to Inventory, with the trip saved to your spending history. When something runs out, add it back to the list or just remove it. Settings → How It Works walks through it again.

While the list is open with something in the cart, your phone won’t lock itself, so the list stays in view as you shop. Turn this off in Settings → Keep screen on while shopping.

Can I see my list on the Home Screen?

Yes. Touch and hold an empty spot on your Home Screen or Lock Screen, tap Edit or Customize, then add the Stocked widget. It shows the list you last had open in the app. Tap it to open that list, or tap + on the medium and large sizes to start adding an item. The widget updates while Stocked is open, so changes other household members make show up after you next open the app.

Can I hide a list?

A list marked as hidden is left out of other household members’ app views. It is still household data and is not confidential from those members at the database level, so do not use it for sensitive information. Finishing shopping from a hidden list asks whether to add the shop to shared Inventory and spending. Choose Keep out of shared records to finish without adding shared Inventory or a spending trip.

What happens when I save a receipt?

Choose New purchase to record a new shop and add its included items to Inventory, or choose Update recorded shop to correct that shop’s prices and receipt details. Updating a shop does not change Inventory. The item subtotal is separate from the printed receipt total, which can include tax and unchecked items. If saving cannot be confirmed, the receipt stays on this phone; retry the same receipt when online.

To add a receipt to a shop you already finished, open Settings → Spending history, choose the trip and tap Add Receipt. That shop is chosen for you after the scan.

How do I change the currency?

Go to Settings → Currency. Stocked supports Canadian, US, Australian and New Zealand dollars, British pounds and euros. The currency applies to everyone in your household. Changing it does not convert prices you have already entered; it only changes the currency they are shown in.

What do the AI features send, and can I turn them off?

Receipt scanning, adding items from a photo, meal ideas, and saving a recipe from a link use OpenAI. Receipt and shelf photos are sent with relevant household item names; meal ideas use your Inventory and saved recipe names; recipe links send the address and the page text. Stocked asks before sending anything the first time. Turn these features on or off in Settings → AI Features. See the privacy policy for details.

It says I’ve reached today’s limit.

Each account can scan 10 receipts, scan 10 grocery photos, ask for meal ideas 20 times, and import 20 recipes from a link per UTC day. Limits reset at midnight UTC, and the app shows when that is in your local time. Failed AI requests do not use an allowance.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings → Delete Account and confirm who you are (your password, or Google or Apple). You can also delete your account before finishing household setup. If you’re the last member, its lists, inventory, recipes and trips are deleted too; otherwise shared content stays with your attribution removed. If interrupted, reopen the app and choose Continue Account Deletion. Removed content cannot be restored. If you can’t sign in, email me for help.

How is my data handled by the AI features?

Stocked uses the paid OpenAI API, not the consumer ChatGPT service. OpenAI does not use API requests to train its models by default. Stocked asks permission before sending anything, requests that OpenAI not store responses as application state, and lets you turn AI features off in Settings. OpenAI may still retain API content in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days. Anyone under 18 needs a parent or guardian’s permission to use the optional AI features.

How do I report a problem?

Use Settings → Report a problem to review an email draft. It includes the app and operating-system versions plus blank prompts; it does not attach receipts, photos, household details, or logs.

I forgot my password.

On the sign-in screen, enter your email and tap Forgot password?. You’ll get an email with a link to choose a new one (check your spam folder if it doesn’t arrive). If you signed in with Google or Apple, use the same button again; there’s no separate password.
